One door changes the whole front of the house
Your front door is the one part of the house every guest walks up to, stops at and touches. Swap a tired wood or fiberglass door for iron and glass, and the entry looks finished from the curb.
Not only does iron hold its shape where wood can swell and warp in Houston humidity, but the glass also lets daylight into a front hall a solid door keeps dark. Two problems. One door.
The front door is the first handshake your home gives.
Pick your glass
5/8 inch insulated glass comes standard on every door. The texture is your call, and it decides how much of the front hall people see from the street.
Clear
Privacy
Clear glass shows the most. Pick it when the view through the door is part of the look, or when the entry faces a private drive.
Flemish
Privacy
Flemish glass has a soft, rippled texture. Light comes through and shapes blur, so the hall stays bright without being on show.
Aquatex
Privacy
Aquatex gives the most privacy of the three. You still get daylight in the hall, and people outside see mostly light and color.
Privacy ratings come from our glass chart, with 5 the most private.
The right glass lets the light in and keeps the street out.
How every Amador door is built
We design and build every door in house. We start with flat sheets of steel and shape our own tubing, then bend the bar stock for the scrollwork by hand.
- Steel
- At least 14-gauge steel in the door and the jamb.
- Thickness
- 2 inches.
- Scrollwork
- 5/8 inch solid bar, bent by hand.
- Glass
- 5/8 inch insulated glass comes standard. Depending on the design, the glass opens on hinges so it is easy to clean.
- Seals
- Marine-grade EPDM rubber seals on every glass frame that opens.
- Insulation
- Polyurethane foam injected into the door and the jamb. Thermally broken insulation is an upgrade.
- Hinges
- Three ball bearing hinges per door, machined in house, each rated for at least 700 lbs.
- Threshold
- A steel threshold built into the frame.
- Sealed
- Coated, then sealed with two coats of clear polyurethane.
- Mounting
- Set with lag bolts through the jamb. No mounting tabs.
Every door comes with a 25-year structural warranty, 2 years on the finish and 1 year on the glass and handle.
Built for the opening you have
Most iron door jobs start with a frame that is already there. Ours are built to go into that existing opening, so a standard-size entry needs no changes to the frame.
We make the iron jamb 3/4 inch wide, so you keep a true 36 inch door. We set it with lag bolts through the jamb instead of mounting tabs. If your opening is not a standard size, we build to the one you have. That is what custom means.
A door that fits the first time creates no surprises on install day.
