What a wrought iron door costs in the Houston area
There is no one price. The size of the opening, one door or two, the design, the glass and the insulation all change it. Call us, and we come out, measure and price your exact door.

What changes the price
Two iron doors of the same size can be priced far apart. These are the reasons.
- The size of the opening
- A bigger door takes more steel, more glass and more hand work.
- One door or two
- Double doors cost more than a single door of the same height.
- The design
- Detailed scrollwork takes more hand bending than simple straight bars.
- The glass
- Clear, tempered 5/8 inch insulated glass comes standard in every quote. Any other glass adds a small upgrade cost.
- Insulation
- Every door is foam injected. A thermal break is an upgrade that adds cost and helps keep summer heat out.
- The opening itself
- Our doors fit a standard-size opening with no changes. An odd size or shape is built to order, and a door unit fills the whole opening.
- Installation
- Our install covers everything, from the first visit and the measurements to the final install and touch ups, including any brick, stone or stucco work around the opening. You can also pick up the door at our warehouse.
The price follows the door, not the other way around.
Custom or ready to install
A ready-to-install door comes in stock sizes: three singles and two doubles. It fits most standard frames with no changes and is usually ready with glass 2 to 3 weeks after you order.
A custom door is built to your exact opening and your design. It takes longer, 4 to 6 weeks right now, and every choice is yours.
If your opening is a stock size, start there. If it is not, custom is the only door that fits.
How to compare iron door quotes
Some prices you see online are for a stock door only. Before you compare, ask every company the same questions.
- Is the door built to my opening, or a stock size?
- How thick is the steel, and how thick is the door?
- Is the glass insulated, and is the door foam filled?
- Is installation included, and who does it?
- What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
Our answers: built to your opening or a stock size, at least 14-gauge steel, 2 inch doors, 5/8 inch insulated glass, foam injected, full install available. Every door comes with a 25-year structural warranty, 2 years on the finish and 1 year on the glass and handle.
A fair comparison is the only kind worth making.
