A front entry has three pieces of iron people notice: the gate, the door and the lights. Many homes match the first two and keep whatever lights the builder hung.
Our lanterns are made to order, in the same iron as our doors and gates, so all three can match.
After dark, the lantern is the front of the house.

Pick the size and the spot
A lantern that is too small disappears. A common rule of thumb for lights beside a door is a fixture about one quarter to one third the height of the door, hung so its center sits a little above eye level.
- One lantern on each side of a front door, or one on the latch side
- Lanterns on gate pillars, to light the drive
- A hanging lantern over a porch or a covered patio

Power, bulbs and local rules
We build lanterns for electric or gas. We do not do electrical work, so your electrician, or a plumber for gas, makes the hookup.
Some cities limit how outdoor lights shine. Dripping Springs, for one, is an International Dark Sky Community with an outdoor lighting ordinance. Check your city's rules before you pick a style.
